Permission matrix
Avid reads data from Fundraise Up. It does not create or change records in Fundraise Up.
| Setting in Fundraise Up | Required permission | What it enables in Avid | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Live data mode | Enabled for the API key | Lets Avid read production donation records | Fundraise Up Dashboard > Settings > API keys > Create API key |
| Donations | Read only | Lets Avid validate the key and sync donation records | Same screen as above |
| Recurring plans (optional) | Read only, if offered | Covers older Avid connections that still sync recurring plans. New connections sync donations only. | Same screen as above |
You do not need Write on any Fundraise Up permission row. Leave Supporters, Campaigns, Designations, Events, and other rows unchecked. Supporter, campaign, and recurring details arrive inside donation records.
Keep the API key private. Treat it like a password. Share it only with trusted teammates.
Step 1: Open Connections in Avid
- In Avid, open Settings > Organization Settings.
- Select Connections.
- Stay on the Systems tab.
- Click Add System.
- In the modal, use Search by Name... and search for Fundraise Up.
- Select the Fundraise Up tile. It shows a Donation Forms badge.
Step 2: Create the Fundraise Up API key
- Open the Fundraise Up Dashboard.
- Go to Settings > API keys.
- Click Create API key.
- Enter a name you will recognize later, such as Avid Integration.
- Under Live data, enable Donations > Read. Do not enable Write.
- Leave other permission rows unchecked unless your Avid team asks you to also enable Recurring plans > Read.
- Click Create API key.
- Copy the key and store it securely. Fundraise Up may not show the full key again.
Step 3: Save the connection in Avid
- Return to Avid.
- Paste the key into the field labeled API Key.
- Click Save.
After you save, Fundraise Up appears in Your Connections. The connection name looks like Fundraise Up: {your account name}. It may show Initializing first, then Active after the first sync completes.
Test and verify
- Go to Settings > Organization Settings > Connections > Systems.
- Find the Fundraise Up card.
- Confirm the status badge changes to Active.
- Confirm the card shows a last sync date after the daily run.
- Allow up to 24 hours for the first sync to finish before you expect donation data in Insights.
What the connection enables
Avid syncs Fundraise Up donation records into your Avid dataset. Each record can include amount, date, status, supporter details, campaign details, UTM values, custom fields, and recurring plan summary fields when Fundraise Up provides them on the donation.
Avid uses this data in Insights reporting and related donation-form workflows. Avid does not push audiences or updates back to Fundraise Up.

For agency partners
New Avid connections sync the Fundraise Up donations stream only. Some older connections may also sync recurring_plans. Avid reporting models use donation records as the primary source.
If a sync fails with a permission error on recurring plans, add Recurring plans > Read to the API key or ask Avid support to confirm which streams are enabled for that connection.
Avid never calls Fundraise Up write endpoints for this integration.
Known limitations
- Avid reads from Fundraise Up only. It does not write donations, supporters, or campaigns back to Fundraise Up.
- Fundraise Up is not a Pathways destination in Avid.
- Avid does not run a deep sync for Fundraise Up.
- Syncs run once a day by default.
- Use Live data on the API key. Test-data keys are not supported for production reporting.
- If you regenerate the key in Fundraise Up, update it in Avid right away.
