Connect GoFundMe Pro to Avid to pull your GoFundMe Pro donation transactions into Avid Insights reporting. The connection syncs one direction, GoFundMe Pro to Avid, once each day. Each organization creates its own API credentials inside GoFundMe Pro, then enters them in Avid. One connection covers one GoFundMe Pro organization.
Use this article when
- You need to connect GoFundMe Pro to Avid for the first time.
- You need to reconnect or update an existing GoFundMe Pro connection.
- You want GoFundMe Pro donation data to appear in Avid Insights reporting.

Permission matrix
| Role in GoFundMe Pro | Required permission | What it enables in Avid | Where to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Organization admin | Create and manage an API app in Apps & integrations > API. The app must list the organization you want to connect. | Avid authenticates with your API app and pulls donation transactions for the selected organization into Insights. | GoFundMe Pro admin > Apps & integrations > API. Confirm the app is active and includes the organization. |
| Per organization | The API app must grant access to that specific organization. | The organization appears in the Avid Organization dropdown during setup. | Avid connect flow: after you enter valid credentials, the Organization dropdown lists every organization your API app can access. |
Before you connect
GoFundMe Pro (formerly Classy) issues API credentials per organization. You create an API app inside GoFundMe Pro, then paste the credentials into Avid. Avid never asks for your GoFundMe Pro login. It uses a Client ID and Client Secret that you generate and control.
Keep the Client Secret private. Treat it like a password. Share it only with trusted administrators, and never paste it in emails or support tickets.
Step 1: Create API credentials in GoFundMe Pro
- Log in to your GoFundMe Pro admin account.
- In the left menu, open Apps & integrations, then select API.
- Create a new app, or open Edit next to an existing one.
- Enter an application name, for example
Avid. - For OAuth2 Redirect URI, enter your Avid application URL. In production this is
https://app.avidai.com. The in-product instructions in Avid show the exact URL for your account. - Save the app, then open Edit next to it to view your credentials.
- Copy the Client ID and Client Secret. Keep the Client Secret private.
Step 2: Connect in Avid
- Open Settings > Connections in Avid.
- Select the Systems tab.
- Click Add System.
- Select Donation Forms in the type filters, or search for
GoFundMe Pro. - Select the GoFundMe Pro card.
- Enter your Client ID and Client Secret from Step 1.
- Click Save.
If your API app can access more than one GoFundMe Pro organization: Avid saves the connection as GoFundMe Pro (unconfigured) and prompts you to choose an Organization. Select the organization you want to connect, then click Save again. If your app can access only one organization, Avid completes the connection automatically.
What you will see
| When | What appears |
|---|---|
| After you save with one organization | A connection named GoFundMe Pro: {organization name} appears in Settings > Connections with the Insights badge. The status starts as Initializing, then moves to Active after the first sync. |
| After you save with multiple organizations | A connection named GoFundMe Pro (unconfigured) appears with an Error status and the message The organization has not been selected. Select an Organization and save to finish. |
| After the first sync | Donation transaction data begins to backfill into Avid. Allow about 24 hours for the initial backfill to complete. The status shows Active and the last sync time appears on the connection card. |
Test and verify
- Open Settings > Connections and find the GoFundMe Pro connection.
- Confirm the status reads Active and the name shows your organization, not
(unconfigured). - Click View Connection to confirm the dataset and sync schedule (
daily). - After 24 hours, check Avid Insights reporting for GoFundMe Pro donation transactions.
Success indicator: The connection shows Active with a last sync time, and GoFundMe Pro transactions appear in your Avid Insights reports.
Troubleshooting
| Error message | Cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
Client ID and Client Secret are required. |
One or both credential fields were left blank. | Enter both the Client ID and Client Secret from your GoFundMe Pro API app, then click Save. |
Unable to authenticate with GoFundMe Pro. Please verify your Client ID and Client Secret and try again. |
The credentials are invalid, expired, or copied incorrectly. | In GoFundMe Pro, reopen Apps & integrations > API, open Edit on your app, and copy the credentials again. Paste them into Avid and save. |
The API credentials provided do not have access to any GoFundMe Pro organizations. |
Your API app does not include any GoFundMe Pro organization. | In GoFundMe Pro, edit the API app so it has access to at least one organization. This is a GoFundMe Pro configuration step, not an Avid setting. |
Your GoFundMe Pro application does not have access to any organizations. Please try again. |
When Avid loaded the Organization dropdown, the API app had no organization access. | Grant the API app access to an organization in GoFundMe Pro, then reopen the connection in Avid and update the credentials. |
Unable to refresh your GoFundMe Pro connection. Please update your Client ID and Client Secret and try again. |
Avid could not refresh the access token with the stored credentials. | Update the Client ID and Client Secret on the connection. If you regenerated the credentials in GoFundMe Pro, use the new values. |
The organization has not been selected. |
The connection was saved but no organization was chosen. | Open the connection, select an Organization from the dropdown, and click Save. |
You do not have access to update this client |
Your Avid user role cannot edit connections for this organization. | Ask an administrator to grant you access to Settings > Connections, or have them complete the connection. |
Update an existing connection: Open Settings > Connections, find the GoFundMe Pro connection, open the actions menu, and select Update Credentials. Paste the new Client ID and Client Secret and save. If the organization changed, reselect the Organization.
Known limitations
- One organization per connection. To connect a second GoFundMe Pro organization, run the connect flow again with that organization's API credentials. This is a GoFundMe Pro design choice, not an Avid limit.
- Donation transactions only. Avid syncs donation transaction data from GoFundMe Pro. The connection does not perform a deep sync of other GoFundMe Pro record types.
- Daily sync. Avid syncs GoFundMe Pro data once per day on the default schedule. New donations appear in Avid after the next daily sync.
- API app must include the organization. If the GoFundMe Pro API app does not grant access to an organization, Avid cannot list or connect it. Fix this in GoFundMe Pro under Apps & integrations > API.
- Credentials can expire or be revoked. If you regenerate or revoke the Client Secret in GoFundMe Pro, update the credentials in Avid with Update Credentials so syncs resume.
For agency partners
GoFundMe Pro (formerly Classy) authenticates through the Classy OAuth2 endpoint at https://api.classy.org/oauth2/auth using the client_credentials grant. Avid stores the access_token, refresh_token, and access_token_expires_at on the connection and refreshes the token automatically. Organizations are resolved through https://api.classy.org/2.0/apps/{client_id}/organizations, so the set of organizations a client can select depends entirely on which organizations the GoFundMe Pro API app includes.
When you manage multiple clients, each client needs its own GoFundMe Pro API app and credentials. A single set of credentials connects only the organizations that the API app can access.
When to contact support
Contact Avid support if:
- The connection fails repeatedly after you re-copy the credentials and retry.
- The connection shows Error and the message is not listed in the troubleshooting table above.
- GoFundMe Pro transactions do not appear in Avid Insights after 24 hours, even though the connection shows Active.
Include this information so support can investigate faster:
- Avid client or organization name
- GoFundMe Pro organization name
- The exact error message shown on the connection card
- Whether the GoFundMe Pro API app includes the organization (checked under Apps & integrations > API)
- Last successful sync date, if any
