What it is
Goal Tracking adds a tab to supported reports so you can compare actual performance against targets. You can set goals for yourself, for your whole organization, or for the filters on a specific report page.
Steps
-
Open a supported report. Goal Tracking appears as a tab on the Overall Performance Report, Channel reports, Giving Level reports, and several Lifecycle reports.
You see a Goal Tracking tab next to the other report tabs.
-
Choose who can see the goals. Select Public to share with your organization, or Private to keep them visible only to you.
The visibility setting applies to the goals on this report.
-
Enter or generate goals. Use one of these methods:
- Enter goals manually. Type or copy and paste monthly targets for Revenue, Number of New Donors, and Number of Gifts. Avid calculates the totals automatically.
- Use Quick-Setting Goals. Enter an annual target, choose the target year, and pick a distribution method. Avid fills in the monthly breakdown.
The table updates with your monthly targets.
-
Click Save.
The report now shows actual performance against your goals.
Quick-Setting distribution methods
When you use Quick-Setting Goals, Avid distributes your annual target across months using one of these methods:
- Historical Average Model: Avid distributes the goal based on past monthly trends. For example, if January has historically represented 10% of annual revenue, January receives 10% of the goal.
- Start Easier, Ramp-Up Growth Model: Avid starts the year below the straight-line average and gradually scales up, while still factoring historical averages. Use this when you expect growth and do not want the full increase required in the first month.
Monitor progress
After saving, the report charts compare actuals to goals. The actuals respect the filters on the page. Adjust the time frame, donor segments, or appeals to see how different slices perform against the same targets.
