Getting the Most Out of Avid Insights Reports
Why Avid Insights Matters
Fundraising success depends on understanding what’s working, what’s not, and what needs to change. But pulling reports across multiple systems can be time-consuming and frustrating.
Avid Insights changes that by bringing all your fundraising data into one place—giving you instant, actionable insights without the hassle of manual reporting.

- Campaign performance – See how your fundraising initiatives are driving results.
- Donor journey insights – Analyze acquisition, retention, and reactivation trends.
- And more!
You can browse reports by category or use the search function to quickly find the ones most relevant to your needs.
Drilling Into the Overall Program Performance Report
One of the most powerful reports in Avid Insights is the Overall Program Performance Report. This report offers a comprehensive view of your fundraising program, with multiple tabs that let you drill into key performance areas:
1. Revenue & Donors Overview
- Track total revenue and donor count over time.
- Analyze revenue per donor and average gift size.
- Identify monthly trends, spikes, and slow periods.
2. Donor Segments
- View new, retained, and reactivated donors.
- Compare donor segments to understand where growth is happening.
3. Active Donor Comparisons
- Compare current donors vs. inactive donors.
- Track donor engagement trends over time.
- Get automatic takeaways to guide strategy decisions.
Each tab provides real-time, interactive data that helps you make informed decisions to grow your program.
Customizing Your Reports with Filters
By default, Avid Insights shows a high-level view of all donors and transactions. But real power comes from customizing your reports with filters.
- Drill down by donor type – Look at broad-based, mid-level, or major donors separately.
- Refine by channel – Compare online vs. offline giving performance.
- Adjust the time period – Analyze performance over specific months, quarters, or fiscal years.
Set the time period (fiscal year to date and prior year)
The Time Period filter sets the date range for the whole report. To compare your current fiscal year-to-date (FYTD) with the prior year:
- Click Filters, then expand Time Period.
- Select Fiscal Year to Date.
- Click Apply.
Scorecards show the most recent period, such as FYTD26, with a Percent Change against the prior period, such as FYTD25 to FYTD26 +9.6%. The Summary by Period table lists each fiscal year-to-date side by side, such as FYTD26, FYTD25, and FYTD24. The prior-year comparison is automatic, so you do not select a second period.
Time Period is single-select. The other options are Calendar Year to Date, Closed Fiscal Year, Calendar Year, Trailing 12 Months, and Transaction Month. For what each period means, see Reporting Period Classifications.
Note: Fiscal year-to-date follows your organization's fiscal year start month. If FYTD starts in the wrong month, contact support with your organization name and the report name.
At any point, you can hover over the yellow icon at the bottom of the report to see which filters are currently applied.
Applying filters ensures you’re always looking at the data that matters most to your strategy.
