Avid does not currently offer a dedicated connector for Virtuous Raise. The standard workaround is to sync Raise gifts through Virtuous CRM+. If required fields do not reach CRM+, LockStep Support can assess a webhook for new events and a file upload for historical gifts.
Use this article when
- You use Virtuous Raise instead of Legacy RaiseDonors.
- You selected RaiseDonors in Avid but cannot find an
Organization Keyin Virtuous Raise. - You need Virtuous Raise gifts or related fields in Avid.
- You need to compare the Virtuous CRM+, webhook, and historical-file options.
Applies to and prerequisites
| Products | Virtuous Raise, Virtuous CRM+, and Avid |
|---|---|
| Permissions | Edit access to Connections & Files |
| Virtuous access | Access to Virtuous CRM+ Settings and API Keys, with permission to create an Admin API key |
| Virtuous configuration | Virtuous Raise must be integrated with Virtuous CRM+ using Virtuous's published setup. |
| Data dependency | Gifts and required fields must reach Virtuous CRM+ before Avid can sync them. |
Current limitation
Avid's RaiseDonors connector supports Legacy RaiseDonors. It requires an Organization Key and an API Key.
Virtuous Raise is a different product. Do not select RaiseDonors just because your organization previously used RaiseDonors or because of the similar name.
If you still use Legacy RaiseDonors, you can continue using Avid's RaiseDonors connector with your legacy credentials.
Why this happens
The RaiseDonors connector uses the Legacy RaiseDonors API and credential model. Virtuous Raise uses a different connection model and can send its gifts to Virtuous CRM+.
Avid can then sync those CRM+ records through the Virtuous CRM connector.
What this affects
This limitation affects:
- A dedicated Virtuous Raise connector in Avid.
- Organizations without Legacy RaiseDonors credentials.
- Raise fields or metadata that do not reach Virtuous CRM+ gift records.
It does not prevent the CRM workaround. Gifts that reach Virtuous CRM+ can sync through Avid's Virtuous CRM connection.
Workaround: sync through Virtuous CRM+
-
Integrate Virtuous Raise with Virtuous CRM+.
Follow Virtuous's Virtuous Raise integration instructions. Confirm that Raise gifts appear under Gift Transactions in CRM+.
- Create a Virtuous CRM+ API key for Avid.
- In Virtuous CRM+, open Settings, then All Settings.
- Open CONNECTIVITY, then API Keys.
- Select CREATE AN API KEY.
- Name the key, leave the permission group set to Admin, and save it.
- Edit the saved key and copy it.
- Connect Virtuous CRM+ to Avid.
- In Avid, go to Settings > Connections.
- Select Add System.
- Use Search by Name... to find and select Virtuous CRM.
- Enter the copied key in API Key.
- Verify the connection.
- Check the Virtuous CRM connection card. It may show Initializing or Syncing before it reaches Active.
- If Sync Now is available, select it.
- After the sync, verify that Virtuous gift records are available in Avid.
When the connection reaches Active, Avid can sync gifts that are present in Virtuous CRM+. Available fields depend on your Virtuous configuration.
Alternative: use a webhook for new Raise events
A Virtuous Raise webhook can send new gift events directly to an Avid Webhook connection. Consider this option when required Raise fields do not reach Virtuous CRM+.
- In Avid, go to Settings > Connections.
- Select Add System, then select Webhook.
- Copy the generated Webhook URL.
- In Virtuous Raise, open System Settings > Webhooks, then select +New Webhook.
- Enter the Avid URL as the Notification URL. Configure a Security Token and the gift event types you need.
- Work with LockStep Support to send and validate a test payload. After Avid receives the first payload, configure the new Webhook data set and map its fields.
Virtuous documents Gift.Added and Gift.Modified webhook events. Its example gift payload includes structured Google UTM values. Confirm the fields in your own payload before choosing this method.
A webhook captures events sent after it is enabled. It does not backfill earlier gifts. Export historical Virtuous Raise transactions and upload the file to Avid.
If fields are stored only in Gift Notes
This is an advanced, Support-assisted fallback. It works only when your Virtuous gift Notes use consistent labels. Note formats can change, so test the mapping against samples before using it.
LockStep Support can check whether Avid mapping logic can extract a Media Outlet custom field or UTM fields such as utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, and utm_term.
Before requesting this workaround, collect a Gift Note sample, the exact labels in the note, the fields you need, and the Avid connection and data set names.
