Pathway health tells you whether an audience is actually reaching its destination. On Manage Pathways, the Health column replaces a green badge that only meant the sync toggle was on. Use the badge, the Sync Results count, and the detail bar to decide whether to wait, review rejected records, or reconnect.
Use this article when...
- A pathway looks active, and you need to know if records are being delivered.
- You see Nothing delivered, Under-delivering, Not delivering, Sync failed, or Reconnect needed.
- You want to download the records a destination rejected.
A pathway is the sync from one audience to one destination, such as an email list or an ad audience.
Before you begin
- You need permission to view Pathways. The Health column is on Manage Pathways, which requires a plan that includes Pathways.
- Downloading succeeded or failed records also requires Pathways export permission.
- File exports do not use these health badges. That column is labeled Custom Export Columns and shows True or False.
Where to look
- Open Pathways.
- Select Manage Pathways.
- Open a destination. Each audience row has a Health badge and a Sync Results cell.
The badge on the destination header is separate. It still reads Active, Inactive, or Error. Read the audience row's Health badge for delivery.
On your dashboard, the Pathways widget uses the same badges in a column named Status. An info control next to an unhealthy badge shows the reason. Selecting it opens that connection in Settings. The widget's Sync Status bar still uses Active, Syncing, and Error as filters. The row badge is the delivery signal.
If you have no pathways yet, Manage Pathways shows No pathways have been configured yet.
What each Health badge means
Avid looks at the latest sync, then at the runs before it. One weak run is recorded. Three weak runs in a row change the badge. A later successful run returns the badge to Synced.
Delivered records are the ones the destination accepted. Attempted records are delivered plus rejected. A run that sends nothing and rejects nothing, such as an audience with no changes, stays Synced. Sync Results shows Up to date.
| Badge | What happened | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The latest run delivered records, or there was nothing new to send. | No action. | |
| A run is in progress. | Wait for it to finish. On Manage Pathways, the badge updates when the run finishes. | |
| The latest run delivered 0 records, the audience had records to send, and this has happened fewer than three times in a row. | Open the detail and check the next run. Three in a row becomes Not delivering. | |
| Fewer than half of the attempted records were delivered, three runs in a row. | Open the detail and select Review Failed Records. | |
| The latest run delivered 0 records, and this is the pathway's first run or the third zero-delivery run in a row. | Open the detail and select Review Failed Records. | |
| The latest run failed for a reason other than authorization. | Open the detail and read the message. Select View details when it is shown. | |
| The latest run failed because the destination needs to be authorized again. | Reconnect that system in Settings, then let the pathway sync again. | |
| Sync is turned off. | Turn sync on if you want this audience to send. | |
| Sync is paused. | Resume sync if you want this audience to send. |
Until a pathway completes a sync after this update, Health shows Synced. The next completed run writes the calculated badge.
Read Sync Results
- On the audience row, read Sync Results.
- When records were attempted, you see a count such as 120 of 150 and a percent such as 80% Succeeded.
- When nothing needed to be sent, you see Up to date.
- While a run is in progress, or before a result exists, you may see -- or N/A.
The info icon on Sync Results says: Delivery rate from the last sync. Succeeded records can be downloaded when retained; failed records show destination rejections.
The bar color follows Health. Select the succeeded count to download records the destination accepted. The tooltip is Download succeeded records. Select the remainder of the bar, when it is available, to download rejections. The tooltip is Download failed records.
Open the health detail
- On Manage Pathways, select a Health badge that can expand. Its tooltip reads Show health details.
- Read the message under the row. It can include a line such as
120 of 150 records delivered,0 of 150 records delivered · All records rejected, or the error from the destination. - If failed records can be downloaded, select Review Failed Records.
- If that link is not shown and View details is, select it to open the connection in Settings.
- Select Hide to close the detail. The badge tooltip then reads Hide health details.
Only one audience's detail is open at a time. Synced, Syncing, Off, and Paused do not open this bar.
Record downloads are kept for a limited time. If the last sync was more than two weeks ago, the download control can say: These records are only retained for a limited time after the sync finishes. Download may no longer be available.
If a download cannot be prepared, Avid shows Unable to download records for this sync. Please try again after the next sync completes. or Error downloading records. Please try again.
When to contact support
Contact support when you have reconnected the destination and the badge is still Reconnect needed, or when Not delivering continues after you confirm the audience has people in it. Include:
- The audience name and the destination.
- The Health badge.
- The Sync Results count, such as 0 of 150.
- The message in the health detail.
Use Help & Support in Avid to submit the request.
