- You want to push an audience to an integration or export it as a CSV.
Avid: More than just reporting
Avid isn’t only a dashboard. It helps you take action on what you learn. One of the fastest ways is through Pathways.
What is the Pathways tool?
Pathways lets you create dynamic, always-updating audiences from the data flowing into Avid. You can push those audiences into the platforms you use to engage donors (ads, email, and more).
Where to find it
In the left-hand menu, select the Pathways icon (the squiggly line). You land on a page that lists:
- All the audiences you’ve created
- The platforms you can push those audiences to
- Options to export your audience as a CSV
Create an audience
You can build an audience in two ways: generate it with AI, or build it manually in the editor.
Option 1: Generate an audience with Avid AI (AI)
Use this when you know who you want, but you do not want to build filters from scratch.
- Go to Pathways → Manage Audiences.
- Click Add an Audience.
- In the prompt, describe the audience you want to create.
Example:Donors who gave more than $500 in the last year - Click Generate. You'll see a message like We’re creating your audience. You’ll be notified when it’s ready!
- When the notification appears, click Your audience suggestion is ready. Click to view.
- Review the suggestion:
- Audience Name (the suggested name)
- What would motivate this audience to take action? (a suggested value proposition)
- Audience Definition (the suggested filters)
- Choose what to do next:
- Click Save to save the suggested audience as-is.
- Click Edit to open the audience in the standard builder for changes.
What AI generates for you
- Audience Name you can use as-is or edit later.
- Motivation/value proposition you can reuse in messaging.
- Audience Definition as a starting set of filters.
Important: The suggestion modal is read-only. To change filters, click Edit and update them in the segment builder.
Option 2: Build an audience manually in the editor
- Go to Pathways → Manage Audiences.
- Click Add an Audience.
- Click Jump to Editor.
- Choose your data source.
Tip: Use Constituent Data Blend to combine all connected sources. - Add filters to define who is included.
- Click Save.
Refine audience filters with Avid AI
Use Avid AI when the filter you need is hard to express with manual clicks.
- Open an audience in the segment builder (for example, click Edit from a suggested audience).
- In the filter section, click the AI button. A prompt opens so you can describe how to adjust the filter.
- Describe the refinement you want, then apply the suggestion.
- Click Save to keep the updated definition.
Tip: Start with the outcome, then add constraints.
Example: Donors who gave in 2025 by direct mail, minimum $25, exclude monthly recurring donors
Example: Donors without an email address
Use this pattern when you want to target donors who are missing contact info.
- Filter for donors:
- Select Giving History First Gift Amount.
- Choose is not blank.
- Filter for missing emails:
- Select Contacts Email.
- Choose is blank.
- Click Save.
Expected result: The audience saves and is ready to deploy.
Deploy your audience
Once your audience is built, you can push it to a Pathway or export it.
- Sync to an integrated platform (for example, ads or email tools).
- Export as a CSV for manual use in another platform.
What you’ll see
- Your saved audience appears in the Your Audiences list.
- The audience definition shows the filters that control membership.
- You can open the audience later to edit, deploy, or export.
